The link between mental fatigue and physical activity has been known for a long time yet we are still to discover the physical link between the two in terms of better understanding the human physiology. There might not be a physical link but the brain being tired form a long day’s work may be willing to throw in the towel at the gym even with activity that is not all that strenuous. The brain being the controlling organ of the human body holds the key to better understanding the ability of a tired mind to influence physically our ability to do physical activity.
One of the key things to remember when such conditions exist is sleep, the phase of rest where the brain doesn’t actually rest but actually goes into pre-programmed fixing mode like your computer as it senses no activity, running a scheduled system scan to automatically maintain the file system’s health. the body does it;s maintenance during sleep and dreaming is one way of the brain organizing memories, from short-term to long term-memory associating links. All this maintenance is being done as specific parts of the brain that unconsciously keeps us alive (breathing, circulation and organ functions) , continues to do it’s thing all throughout the day. This may provide the missing link between a tired brain and the lack of physical strength, brought about by mental fatigue manifesting itself, protecting the body from damage which can result form over-exertion.
