単純に夜に睡眠をとること。夜間の睡眠を妨げるのでなるべく午睡は避けること。日中の仮眠が避けられないなら、10~20分間のパワー仮眠に制限すること。これは筆者が実践済みだ。1時間の午睡をとると夜2~3時間起きていられるのだ。
夜間勤務で日中に睡眠をとる場合はより睡眠の苦労をしている可能性が高い。
秘訣(ひけつ)は、昼間の雑音をカットするため寝室を防音にすることだ。 ラジオとテレビの雑音をできるだけ避け、道路の騒音などのように制御できない他の音は、耳栓をつけるか、もしくは厚いカーテンを利用する。
暑過ぎて(もしくは寒すぎて)目が覚めなくていいように、部屋を適温に保つこと。
部屋を暗くするため窓にブラインドをつけること。日光は体内時計に影響を与えるので、睡眠を妨害しないよう、日光をブロックしておく。
